To make a long and arduous story short, the shampoo bars for the Feb. LE's are going to be another week or two due to a move and some fried equipment as a result of faulty wiring at the old place. (We're back up and running now, and hopefully, we won't have to deal w/that weirdness again!) Named after the vessel that brought Hudson and his crew to these shores, Halve Maen (or "Half Moon",) combines both tulip and peppermint fragrances in a nod to both the Dutch history of NY, as well as the area's crisp, cold winters.

OK, so after taking a few days' breather over the holiday, I fired up my auxiliary Windows box yesterday in order to print product/shipping labels and ship out this weeks' orders. Problem was, said Windows box was purchased as a refurbished model from (what I found out after the fact) a place with a dismal BBB rating, albeit a decent one on Pricewatch, which is where I found the computer in the first place. (In order to print the labels correctly/use certain programs, Windows, rather than my preferred OS of Linux, is a must. Being that I like to keep my Linux and Windows strictly separated, this required an extra little laptop to hook up to the printer, etc.) This auxiliary Windows computer was always slow and somewhat problematic out of the box, and the godawful company I ordered it from refused to do anything about it. (Like taking it back, for instance.)

After 5 months of headaches, the obnoxiously defective little Windows box finally died on me yesterday morning, so after some exhaustive research @the BBB and elsewhere, I bought another inexpensive little Windows box from a company with a stellar reputation. Hopefully, the new computer will arrive this week. Lesson learned: Never buy inferior equipment, and always check the reputation of a prospective vendor before plunking your money down.

What does this mean to you, our lovely Serpentine Hair customers? Orders are going to be delayed by a few days this week while we borrow Windows equipment from friends and family in order to give you folks the professional appearance you've come to expect from our products. Orders placed on or after Dec. 20th until we get the new computer in will be offered a free 2-oz liquid shampoo in the scent of your choice as an apology for the lateness of these shipments.
